The people we remember are mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and friends. Each one lived a life that deserves to be honoured. That is why CHF recognizes the importance of having a safe space to cherish their memories and to reflect on the tremendous impact they had on us.

Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) supports the Client Action Committee in hosting this annual memorial. Although we have been brought together by loss, this memorial gives us an opportunity to inspire hope, healing, and change.  CHF and the homeless-serving system of care will continue to work to ensure that every Calgarian has access to a home, so we can move toward a future where lives are not lost to homelessness.

Calgary Homeless Foundation is the guide on the fight against homelessness in Calgary. We allocate resources for highest impact and outcomes, maximizing benefits for people experiencing homelessness. With our database and research, we build knowledge and understanding, and we galvanize public and political will so people have the right housing at the right time. In partnership with governments and community, we serve as the trusted advisor on how to leverage our combined resources so Calgarians can journey out of homelessness into a home with the supports they need to thrive.

Patricia Jones, President & CEO:

“We come together on the Longest Night of the Year to remember those who have died while experiencing homeless. This memorial is about sharing our humanity, about grieving, compassion, and honoring the lives of those who mattered deeply to us. This past year has highlighted the vital importance of a home for our health and well-being. The list of names that are read speaks to the urgency to address the needs of those experiencing homelessness. One name is one too many. We continue to strive to know a future in our community where homelessness doesn’t exist. It must be our collective resolve to ensure all Calgarians have access to a home with supports for their individual needs and to move them to a place of wellness and stability.”
